When you want to enhance Voltage from digital circuit that use power supply 5V to voltage 12VDC sizes. Which this work must use Dc converter model step up Voltage. I thinks this circuit good interesting. By use IC LT1073-12 then use good easy. See the detail in circuit picture. Can give current at output about 0.13A. For D1 give 1N5818 number or the number replaces.
